An accomplished Los Angeles attorney, Michael Lin Baum has served as president and managing partner of Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman for nearly 35 years. To augment and inform his efforts as a lawyer, Michael Lin Baum holds membership in multiple professional organizations, including the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA).

With approximately 4000 members, the CAALA is the largest local association of plaintiffs' attorneys in the United States. The organization spearheads a range of educational, networking, and advocacy initiatives to benefit its membership base, but it also requires its membership base to adhere to a strict code of conduct.
In addition to generally upholding the good reputation of the CAALA and engaging in respectful interactions with all parties who have CAALA affiliations, the official CAALA code of conduct asks members to encourage respect for legal intuitions/systems and maintain open lines of frank and informative communication with clients. It also includes provisions that encourage the ongoing expansion of personal legal knowledge and efforts to improve accessibility and transparency in the justice system.
